One of my 2023 Goals: Book One Session Abroad
When planning my 2023 goals for the year, I set a goal to book ONE session abroad. Given my upcoming trip to Italy, I felt this was a realistic and achievable goal. We didn’t have the specific dates for our trip so I haven’t started pursuing my GOAL up to this point. I’ve been waiting patiently to begin my search, but it seems the universe had different plans and surprised me instead.
A Wedding in Sardinia, Italy?!?!
I received an inquiry to photograph a wedding in Sardinia, Italy and my initial thoughts were:
- I don’t speak Italian fluently.
- Although I have photographed weddings before, I am not a wedding photographer.
- The image I had of the ONE session abroad was significantly different from a wedding.
After talking to my husband about it, he encouraged me to take a leap of faith and step out of my comfort zone. Although I initially declined for the reasons stated, the bride later reached out to me and expressed how much it would mean to her if I would be the one to capture her special day.
Really Exciting News!
In the meantime, I reached out to one of my best friends {who is also a photographer / who photographed my wedding} to share the potential Italian wedding news. I mentioned to Abigail how I wish she could join me in photographing the wedding.
To my surprise, we were able to make this thought a reality. Not only is one of my best friends joining me in Sardinia this summer to photograph a wedding but she gets to spend time with my family on our summer holiday.
Check out some of my fav memories with Abigail…
Saying “YES” to New Adventures
I’m excited to announce that I’m saying “YES” to new adventures! I’ll be photographing my first-ever session abroad, which happens to be a wedding in Italy. And to top it off, one of my best friends gets to come along for the adventure.
Will you say YES to New Adventures?
Saying YES to things that scare you can lead to growth and personal development. When you say yes to something that scares you, you step out of your comfort zone and expose yourself to new experiences and opportunities. Here are some reasons why saying yes to things that scare you can be beneficial:
- Overcoming fear: By facing your fears and saying yes to things that scare you, you can build courage and confidence in yourself. This can help you tackle other challenges in your life that may have seemed insurmountable before.
- Learning and growth: When you step out of your comfort zone, you expose yourself to new perspectives and ideas. This can help you learn and grow as a person, both personally and professionally.
- New opportunities: Saying yes to things that scare you can lead to new and exciting opportunities that you may not have encountered otherwise. By taking risks and trying new things, you may find yourself on a path to success and fulfillment.
Remember, saying yes to things that scare you doesn’t mean you have to say yes to everything. It’s important to prioritize your values and goals, and only take on opportunities that align with them. But when the opportunity is right, saying yes can be the start of a transformative and rewarding journey.
